Praying as a family

Leading prayer for your family can be difficult and it's easy to get discouraged. DON'T GIVE UP!

Prepare the Sacred Space:

• Set a time to pray each day
• Pick a place to pray 
• Make a simple altar with a crucifix, cross, candle, icon, etc.
• Turn off the screens and the lights
• Tell the family you are making a habit to pray together asking for the Lord’s mercy and for all those suffering in this difficult time.

Daily Prayer Routine: 

• Start by lighting a candle
• Make the Sign of the Cross
• Pray the Our Father
• Read Psalm 91 or the Psalm from daily Mass 
• Take a moment of silence (1-3 min) to listen to the Lord  *This will be hard a first, but keep practicing.  
• Share some Intercessions (Family, Friends, Needs, our World)  - ending with “We pray to the Lord”. 
• Close with a Hail Mary, the Sign of the Cross and blow out the candle.  Keep it short and simple, but repeat it daily.
